For a few years now, I have been holding open days in my workshop, which is also my home.
I live in a beautiful, large, old house with wooden floors and high ceilings. It's full of huge halls, galleries, windows… Because it's so big, I often share it with other artists for short or longer stays, and at least once a year we do an open studio event.
If you are interested in sharing/living together or renting a room/space in this workshop house, or you simply want to visit it, contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
These are some photos from past events.
In 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, THE PERMANENT WRITING LABORATORY launches the ZERO edition of an EMERGENCY SUPERFANZINE that is presented at the new open studio in Praza Toural. That event also featured sculptures by José Perozo, and a drawing and text piece by Alejandra Pombo. All this seasoned, of course, with Meiji paintings from the time of confinement.
In 2018, the artist Lúa Gándara came to live at Pazo Meiji for a few months, but in the end, this few months turned into a year and a half. During that time we did many things.
Firstable, an open studio called Lúa Gándara vs. María Meijide opened to the public on May 5th, 2018, and the event became a a sort of painting competition.
In 2016, the clothing firm MATKA organized a showroom at Pazo Meiji. During the month of December, the living rooms of the house became a great testing room for extremely delicate and hand-made pieces. On December 22 we organized an open studio day, where painting and pieces of clothing coexisted, and at the last moment, an installation of lamps by Mauro Trastoy was added to the day.
